Installing Windows XP without CD-ROM Drive

Prepare:
  1. Windows XP CD and Product Key
  2. Windows 98SE Floppy Bootdisk with Smartdrv.exe
  3. Notebook HDD (Taken out)
  4. A working PC with CD-ROM

Step:
  1. Plug Notebook HDD into a working PC and boot up windows (Win98, Win2K or WinXP)
  2. Create 2 partitions and format both partition into FAT32 format. Rename 2nd partition as WinXP
  3. Copy entire Windows XP CD content to WinXP partition
  4. Shutdown PC and install back HDD to Notebook
  5. Let Notebook boot from floppy disk and select boot without cd-rom option
  6. Once finish loading, type-in smartdrv.exe
  7. Change to WinXP partition and go into i386 folder and type winnt to start windows XP installation and here you go. You can the run the installation as normal Windows XP installation process
  8. GOOD LUCK.
